Hello 2/3 Families,
Thank you for your patience, flexibility and support in navigating our “new normal”. We are very impressed by the strong commitment everyone is demonstrating during our Morning Meetings and small reading groups. We feel blessed to have you as a part of our caring community. It is a joy to see your child(ren) and connect with all of you. See the photos tab for what some of this virtual learning looks like! Please do not share or post these photos on social media.
Both classes have received several forms of a schedule, the most reason version including some time suggestions to help families schedule the day. Please remember that the times are a suggestion. The live classes (9:00, 9:30, and English) cannot be moved, but your family can make adjustments to the timing of the rest of the day to help students be successful in their work and develop independence.
We will continue to make adjustments to Google Classroom so information is clear and easy to find. The stream (what you see when you first enter a classroom) will always have quick updates – the link for live classes, a brief overview of the day, etc. The classwork tab is where you will find more detailed information for each assignment, including links to Flipgrid and supporting videos.
Next week, students will use their Spanish time to continue to work on handwriting and writing complete paragraphs. They will share their paragraphs in Flipgrid. As they read in Spanish, students will work on activating schema to increase their reading comprehension and to read longer words accurately and fluently.
In English, students will be working on sentence fluency by crafting longer sentences or organizing details into paragraphs. The small group time will be used to review their reading check pages from the previous week and to continue exploring these online learning platforms.
In math, the third graders will practice multiplication tables 1 up to 12. Second graders will practice math facts 1-20 for addition and subtraction. This is in addition to the lesson work that is suggested for each day.
Next week in Google Classrooms, students will learn how to turn in assignments and work with Google Docs to present their assignments.
Stay healthy and be well!
