The 2/3 team values a positive and consistent approach to discipline which focuses on safety, respect, communication, self-management, and problem solving. We want to create a safe, kind and respectful environment where our students are ready to learn, take responsibility for their actions and foster a caring and supportive learning place.
These are the guidelines in our 2/3 classes that are used throughout the school:
1. SHOW RESPECT –
Respect yourself and others, property, and all living things.
2. SHOW RESPONSIBILITY –
Take responsibility for your actions, your belongings, and your learning.
3. SHOW SELF CONTROL –
Keep your hands, feet, and objects in your own space. Use caring words and actions.
4. SHOW INTEGRITY –
Demonstrate honesty in your thinking, your words, and your actions.
5. SHOW APPRECIATION FOR THE IMMERSION ENVIRONMENT-
Use Spanish as the main means of communication in the classroom
The above will be the umbrella of our behavior system in our school. Some resources we will use to support these rules in the classroom are:
- IB learner and attitudes profile
- Kelso’s choice conflict resolution program
- Responsive Classroom
In special situations, when students are having a difficult time in school, we will meet first with the parents of the student, the teacher and the student to develop an individualized behavior plan. If the behavior continues we will have a second meeting with the assistant head of school (Jeff Kessler) to find a different approach. Parents will be notify when this special situations arise.
